Mobility Driving Uptake in Unified Communications - Elite Telecom

The survey was commissioned by Ovum and gathered data from 1,300 businesses across the globe.

Mike Sapien who took the lead on the survey, said: ?We found just over 80% have plans to implement at least some UC&C in the next two years, but interestingly enough, 78% - almost the same percentage - also claimed they had dedicated budget to do so.?

Mike further pointed out that a ?renewed? interest into UC had occurred, and said that mobility is one of the driving forces behind this. He further pointed out that other reasons driving UC uptake were business process improvement, support for flexible working and increased productivity.

Interestingly, direct savings was further to the bottom of key drivers. Mike confirmed: ?When we previously surveyed this in 2011, the cost was much higher up. Now it seems companies are thinking of UC&C in a little more of positive terms.?

What is mobility?

For modern organisations, business mobiles are a necessity to stay competitive and therefore maintaining an ?always on? presence has become a top priority for business leaders. Whereas working used to mean sitting in an office, bound by four walls ? now we have the ability to stay connected to remote workers, staff, customers and suppliers no matter where we are in the world.

At their most basic, today?s smartphones offer low cost diaries, address books and organisational tools for your staff, but the most advanced on the market are breaming with internet access, email, instant messaging, video conferencing, group calling and business text. The emergence of 4G also provides businesses with access to fast unrestrictive internet access on the go ? and this is the sort of mobility that is pushing a need for unified communications.

Mobile working and unified communications

Using mobile and being mobile is different, when used together, mobility and unified communications taps into both of these working trends to deliver a synchronised on-the-go experience. Elite Telecom works with many unified communications suppliers to provide unrivalled mobility solutions and UC platforms to businesses.

By leveraging the potential of your smartphones and tablets across one unified platform, you are able to execute great business from anywhere. With unified communications, you are able to securely implement CYOD or BYOD practices as many platforms are now catering for this.

When you use unified communications to combine your mobile workforce into your infrastructure, it brings down costs and increases productivity by merging voice communication with data, email and your other comms tools. This then actually reduces call charges and business mobile contracts?as mobile voice calls can be made via the office phone system wherever you are.
